The man behind this great adventure is Mr. Thor Haraldsen. He is a businessman from Norway with a background as an active cyclist. Thor is a noted member of The Travellers’ Club in Norway where fellow members such as Thor Heyerdahl, Carl Emil Petersen, Odd Eliassen, Stein P. Aasheim, have been a great inspiration in planning the trip to this unknown part of the world. This is not his first adventure in Russia. He celebrated the turn of the millennium by riding his bicycle all the way from the Travellers’ Club in Oslo to Tianamen Square in Beijing! This was a trip that lasted a little more than 100 days, and resulted in a book and a documentary film, later sold to many TV stations around the world. ” - We want to travel by bicycle because it offers a quiet and slow way to travel. It gives us the opportunity to absorb the impressions and allows us to come closer to the people, the wildlife and nature. “ We are dependent on establishing good contact with the local people along the way. Thor has been in Siberia before and he is looking again forward to meeting the interesting people of this climatically inhospitable part of the world.

He has proven himself as a man of determination and a good leader, who’s not afraid of putting in extra effort or making difficult decisions. A big advantage for this expedition is the fact that this is a group of good friends that know each other well, and they all have the same goal:
